Photoshoot

Mairi arranged a photoshoot in order to document her final collection and our collaborative work. This allowed me to photograph my collapsible neckpiece when worn.
Thankyou very much to Emily, who was a natural and extremely patient! Also to Mairi and Ruth for their creative direction during the shoot (hee hee)!

ECA FAshion Show

The ECA Fashion show is currently taking place. I collaborated with Mairi Dryden, 4th year fashion, to create functional jewellery to complement her collection.

We managed to rustle up an extra neck piece at short notice, created entirely from rusted metal and oxidised silver chain!

We designed brooches to act as fastenings at the nape of the neck, for the open-backed garments.

I slso designed a neckpiece to be worn over one of the jackets

Here is the final result!

Degree show inspiration

I think this could work really well - ha ha ha!

Don Gummer

I've been trying to research outside of the bubble that is jewellery and have come across the work of sculptor, Don Gummer. I especially like his relief work from the 70's and 80's.

Ionic Loggia. Painted wood. 1978. 80" x 36" x 10"

Early Navigation. Silk and Painted Wood. 1982. 8" x 8" x 12"

Portfolio Time

It's amazing how much mess a wee jeweller can make.....................

Castings, Fastenings and Enamellings!

I have designed a series of brooches to act as fastenings for some of Mairi Dryden's garments. After spending ages making one of the silver frames, I was able to get it cast so that we have loooooooooads! We're still trying to decide which enamel pieces to use..........................

Liquid Enamel

I actually like the back of this brooch.....possibly more than the front!

Sliding Neckpiece

Here's my first neckpiece! Silver, enamel and brass eyelets. Photoshopping takes hoooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuurs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fashion....turn to the left. Fashion......turn to the right

Yesterday I had my neckpiece photographed with some of Mairi Dryden's striking pieces for her final year degree show. The model changed pose every 5 seconds.......without direction! Watching the shoot, the poses looked a bit wierd, but they look really good on camera! Here are a few........................
